Time-Tested and Proven
Sewage Treatment Technology

The EcoSBRclassic series is India’s most sold sewage treatment plant range, with over 1,500 installations from 10 KLD to 600 KLD operating successfully across India and in various global locations.

Powered by the reliable SBR (Sequencing Batch Reactor) process, EcoSBRclassic systems are designed to efficiently manage fluctuating wastewater loads—a common challenge in real-world operations. With minimal mechanical and moving parts, these plants are simple to operate and maintain, ensuring long-term dependability.

Key Advantages of EcoSBRclassic

  • Superior Treatment Performance – Consistently delivers treated water quality that exceeds current Pollution Control Board standards.

  • Regulatory Future-Readiness – Capable of meeting both present and anticipated stricter discharge norms.

  • Exceptional Durability – Proven performance in diverse conditions, including high-altitude regions and low-temperature climates.

  • Low Skilled-Operator DependencyAutomation, smart controls, and IoT integration simplify operation and reduce reliance on highly trained personnel.

  • Proven & Certified – Treatment results validated through testing by accredited laboratories across India.

EcoSBRclassic Treatment Process

Superior Treatment Quality with Enhanced Activated Sludge Technology

The EcoSBRclassic process is built on a proven and efficient SBR operating principle to treat wastewater from a wide variety of buildings with high consistency.

The treatment cycle begins as sewage flows into the collection tank and then enters the SBR reactor in a time-sequenced manner. The process follows these key steps:

  1. Filling – A measured batch of sewage is pumped from the collection tank into the SBR reactor (aeration tank).

  2. Reaction (Aeration) – Air is supplied through fine-bubble aerators fixed at the reactor’s base. In this oxygen-rich environment, naturally occurring microorganisms (activated sludge) break down and consume pollutants, achieving biological purification.

  3. Settling – Once the aeration phase ends, the air supply is stopped. The sludge settles to the bottom, creating a clear water layer at the top.

  4. Clear Water Removal – Using EcoTec-designed air lift pumps, the clear water is gently drawn from the top layer without disturbing the settled sludge. This treated water can then undergo further filtration and disinfection for safe reuse.

This batch-based approach ensures consistent treatment performance, adaptability to fluctuating wastewater loads, and simplified operation compared to continuous-flow systems.

EcoTec’s Tailored Design Approach

Every EcoTec SBR system is designed after a comprehensive assessment of:

  • Building type and occupancy trends

  • Varying footfall and wastewater patterns

  • Source-specific wastewater characteristics (kitchen, laundry, WTP backwash, cooling tower blowdown, etc.)

With EcoTec’s expertise, clients receive a customized treatment solution that meets the actual operational needs of their specific building or facility—ensuring reliability, compliance, and long-term efficiency.

EcoSBR – Efficient Handling of Load Fluctuations

In real-world operations, sewage treatment plants often receive wastewater volumes and load differ from their intended design load. These variations can be classified into three main types:

EcoSBR Load Fluctuation Management
1. Underload

Underload occurs when the incoming wastewater volume is lower than the design capacity—common in cases such as:

  • Low building occupancy

  • Weekends and holidays

  • Seasonal trends

  • Long vacation periods

EcoSBRclassic systems manage underload intelligently using EcoSave Mode in the plant’s automation. This mode:

  • Maintains microbial activity in the reactor during low-load periods

  • Reduces aeration and pumping, conserving energy and operating costs

2. Shock Load

Shock load happens when wastewater inflow temporarily exceeds the design capacity due to sudden events such as:

  • Celebrations or large gatherings

  • Water leakages

  • Heavy rainfall causing infiltration

EcoSBR systems are equipped with buffer capacity to absorb short-term surges. If high inflows persist, the system can increase the number of treatment batches, handling up to 20% above the design capacity without compromising treatment quality.

3. Peak Load

Peak load refers to regular daily or seasonal variations in wastewater generation caused by occupancy patterns and usage schedules.

EcoSBR designs incorporate collection/buffer tanks to store peak inflows and treat them in scheduled daily batches, ensuring steady and reliable treatment.

Exceptional Treated Water Quality with Every Cycle

EcoSBR wastewater treatment systems consistently deliver treated water quality suitable for reuse and recycling, exceeding the statutory standards set by pollution control authorities. This performance is not just a claim—it is backed by thousands of laboratory test results from plants operating successfully across the globe.

Our systems combine intelligent design with optimized operating principles to ensure:

  • Superior Treatment Quality – Consistently high purification levels for safe reuse

  • Nutrient Removal – Effective elimination of ammonia and nitrates

  • Load Resilience – Stable performance even under fluctuating wastewater volumes

  • Energy Efficiency – Optimized operation with significant power savings

  • Minimal Sludge Generation – Much lower than MBBR or MBR processes, reducing handling and disposal needs

With EcoSBR, clients benefit from a proven, reliable, and sustainable wastewater solution that meets today’s demands and tomorrow’s regulatory challenges.
